With over 600,000 monthly Meetups and 32 million members, Meetup is the world’s best platform to organize groups. Following a extensive rebrand Meetup asked Turtle to help them redesign the website to reflect their new brand and provide the best experience for their users. The company has a unique position as a digital platform that succeeds by getting members to unplug and do more in real life. A major goal of the redesign was to communicate the impact Meetup was having from both a network and individual level.

The Solution

However, authentically capturing the Meetup story online had proven difficult in past versions of the website. The solution we designed used a real-time visualization of platform RSVP’s per minute happening on the platform. This concept illuminated the impact in terms of scale but also diversity of Meetups taking place. The new design highlighted unique stories of individuals lives that were empowered through Meetup.

While Meetup’s new brand guidelines included a vibrant colour palette and engaging photography online execution was still undefined. We took the new brand direction and developed a cohesive set of design components, iconography, and typography styles that could be leveraged across the site.

The Result

The resulting site design brought Meetups new brand to the web in a big way. The Meetup team was thrilled with the way the new design represented the brand, stories, and values that makes the company unique. The designs also provided the organization with a solid set of components that will be used in the design of future web projects.
